Lap Pool Opens Sunday!

We are excited to announce that we will be opening the lap pool and bathhouse Sunday, June 10. We passed our inspection for those facilities today.

A few key reminders:

  1. The remaining facilities are still a construction zone. Please do not attempt to enter areas not open.
  2. Parking is limited due to the remaining construction, so please plan accordingly.
  3. We have code and safety limits to the number of people permitted in the pool at any one time. Management will be enforcing these limits. Please pay careful attention to the direction of management and staff to ensure safety of all.
  4. No diapers are allowed in the lap pool at any time.
  5. The lap pool's minimum depth is 5 feet. Children may swim in water over their shoulders provided they have passed the basic swimming test.
  6. No food or drink is allowed on the pool deck.

    1. This is a great idea. Even if there isn't a computer handy, there are plenty of mobile apps so lifeguards or managers could post.

It should also go out to the listserv.

    2. We are currently in the process of setting up a webcam so you can see a live stream of both the lap pool and new pools. We expect the webcam to go live in the next week. In addition to the live webcam, messages on pool status will be sent via https://twitter.com/#!/OVLweather

    3. Is it safe to assume the webcam will be member-access only? I don't think it should be world-wide public access... Thanks!

    4. The primary purpose of the webcam will be for members to check on the current crowd size and lap lane availability. It certainly is not for stalkers to check out bikinis.

The webcam will either be behind a secure Overlee Member login or placed high on the bathhouse w/ just enough resolution to see people but not enough to identify faces.

If you would like to help with the setup please contact me or Mike.

      Thanks,

      Jim

  2. The lap pool will be used as a general purpose pool until the main pool opens, right?

    1. See the link to the schedule posted on the home page (near to where you found the link to this site). Sometimes it will be only lap swimming, sometimes only general swim, and occasionally mixed use.

See link above that says "Click Here for Lap Pool Schedule".

    3. Thanks, but I did and that's what made me wonder, because that schedule clearly included having the main pool open after schools open.

Will we just use the "single pool" schedule until the main pool opens, regardless of whether schools are out?

That makes sense; I just wanted to be sure I had it right.

Thanks again for all your hard work!
