Thanks to everyone that came to the membership meeting to give feedback on the options for the new pool and building construction project.  Below are the materials presented at the meeting.  Please provide your opinions in the comments section below.

  1. Plan C gets my vote. For one,I like the traffic and parking plan for what is now 'the picnic area'. Next, moving the big pool and the clubhouse in line with it not only makes good design sense; it guarantees the use of the current clubhouse while the new one is being built. I would like to see some elements in the design that remind us of the current clubhouse and soon see some elevation drawings posted. I wonder if it would be an issue to move the beach entrance to the tub pool a little more off center towards the parking lot for a little more deck space between it and the bathhouse. It would be helpful to the members to please label some of the not too obvious facilities in the design plans.

  2. I do see the elevation of the clubhouse(s) in both proposals when I scroll down. I think that we will be looking for more detailed drawings of the building and terrace soon.

  3. We would like to thank all of the long range planning committee members for all of their hard work on this. This is a huge effort, and we greatly appreciate the time and expertise you have put into it.

  4. has the board already decided on the new pool and the clubhouse? We missed the Nov 2nd meeting but wanted to send our feedback before the final vote. We think keeping the clubhouse, even if it partially rebuilt is the best plan for Overlee. I don't see where the snack shack will be placed in either design. I think its a great help to members with kids to have food easily accessible with our busy lives these days, (just wish there were some healthy options) Please email the next meeting date and when the costs for each option will be posted. thx

  5. I support the AB plan, particularly as regards retention of the major portion of the current clubhouse. While the building needs some real upgrades (such as new double-glazed windows that can open), it is an historic structure that gives some real visual character to Overlee. Why should our club have simply a functional clubhouse with no distinctiveness? When visitors come to Overlee or when we bring guests, the sight of the Febrey-Kincheloe house rising on the high land at the back of the pools is an impressive sight. The planning committee has crafted some needed and well designed additions to the historic core of the clubhouse which will give us the needed functionality without sacrificing our past. The other capital improvements in the AB plan are also commendable. Given the current financial market and the low interest rates, this is the ideal time to be undertaking these upgrades to Overlee!

  6. How much would it cost to simply replace the existing pool that needs repair? Anybody know? I would like to be able to compare the cost of what is actually needed with the extra cost of these fantastic imaginings.

  7. Whatever you end up doing, do not impact or damage the large trees, especially the big one between the clubhouse and the main pool - that is what makes Overlee Overlee.

  8. I'm still disappointed at how little information has been/is being shared concerning the costs associated with various options.

I don't feel that we are working with enough information here to make an informed decision.

When will more information be shared with members (please don't say at the annual meeting, some of us may not be able to make it and that will not give adequate time to consider and analyze beforehand).

    Thank you.

  9. What are the results of the survey? Have they been collated and posted somewhere? If not, would it be possible to make them available to members? The board meeting is in two weeks, and it would be helpful to see what fellow members are saying.
